Why Should You Use Titanium Intake Or Exhaust Studs?

Our Exoracing titanium intake and exhaust stud kits are a perfect option for replacing corroded OEM inlet or exhaust manifold bolts.

Our studs are manufactured from high-quality Grade 5 titanium, ensuring their durability and longevity. Each kit has a 3mm hex key tip, allowing easy installation with an Allen Key or socket without damaging the threads.

Not only are our stud kits visually appealing, but they are also lightweight and will never corrode. They are compatible with combined gasket and manifold depths up to 20mm, making them versatile for various applications, including thermal gaskets or thicker manifold flanges.

When installing an aftermarket intake or exhaust manifold, you often get supplied with a thermal intake gasket that is much thicker than the factory's. As the factory bolts only accommodate their thin OEM gasket, the stock bolts aren't long enough when combined with an aftermarket intake manifold such as the Skunk2 ultra or pro range, as the flanges are much thicker.

The same can be said for exhaust manifolds such as turbo conversion manifolds. As the walls are much thicker to counter the extra heat created by a turbocharger, the manifold flange is also thicker to stop breakages and to ensure the flange doesn't warp with the extra heat.

Titanium exhaust manifold studs also fix this issue by being longer and more durable over time than stock studs or bolts.

Using factory exhaust manifold bolts and studs, especially when paired with an aftermarket intake manifold or header/turbo system, can lead to stripped or broken bolts and inadequate clamping force, ultimately resulting in leaks.

Grade 5 Titanium intake and exhaust studs can replace Grade 8.8 steel studs, offering an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and weight savings of approximately 45% compared to equivalent steel bolts. Furthermore, Titanium provides superior corrosion resistance to a wide range of harsh chemicals, leading to a longer service life than standard BZP steel bolts.

We've tested these on our favourite Honda engines to ensure we have intake and exhaust stud kits for the most used applications. In summary, our M8-1.25 stud kits are a reliable and good-looking option for those looking to take their build to the next level.

We also now offer an Exoracing lifetime warranty on our titanium range. We are confident in our product and want you to have a risk-free buying experience.

Exoracing Titanium Intake And Exhaust Stud Kit Installation Guide:

Follow the steps below to install your new Exoracing intake or exhaust studs correctly. If you are unsure about any of the steps below, please contact a professional mechanic who can assist you.

  1. First, you will need to double-check that the thread of the exhaust or intake studs is M8x1.25
  2. Once you have confirmed this, remove the old studs or bolts individually.
  3. Replace them with our Exoracing titanium studs using a 3mm Allen key or hex socket, tightening and ensuring the torque does not exceed 30 nm.
  4. Repeat step 3 for as many exhaust or intake studs as you need to install. Then thread on the supplied nuts one at a time and tighten to the OE torque setting.
  5. Repeat step 4 for as many nuts as you need to install.
  6. After a few heat cycles, retighten the studs and nuts to the correct torque.
  7. You are now all done! Please tag us in any photos of the stud kit installed on social media, as we would love to see them!

Notes:

  • Do not exceed a maximum torque setting of 30Nm/22Lbft, which may cause the hex tip to round or damage the thread.
  • Professional installation is recommended.
  • Please retorque the studs and nuts after a few heat cycles to prevent them from loosening.
  • We always recommend using anti-seize grease when installing titanium into cast aluminium cylinder heads to reduce the chance of galling over time.
